Big news from last night's City Council meeting

Great news! The City Council voted last night to place the AIM Initiative on the November ballot, following the election code.
At the same time, a majority of the council voted to have city staff and an independent lawfirm that specializes in land-use law produce reports on what AIM's impact will be when it passes.
Thank you to everyone who wrote in and showed up! It made an impact. We had 16 written comments in support — and 15 people who spoke in favor of AIM.
One of those voices was Ray Withy, AIM proponent and former two-term Mayor of Sausalito.
Withy walked us through Marinship planning efforts since 2012, then delivered a blunt verdict on 15 years of studies, committees, and reports now collecting dust on a shelf:
"We did nothing, absolutely nothing."
He was equally direct about what's at stake:
"The consequences of not acting are severe. It is economically severe over the medium term — and it could lead to Sausalito's bankruptcy if we don't improve the economic vitality of the Marinship."
To put his quote into context, did you know that? The Marinship spans over 200 acres. It produces approximately $10k per acre in City tax revenue vs. $70k per acre from downtown bridgeway, a much smaller strip of land.
